After the political and military upheavals that caused such terrible disruption to life and society in 17th-century Ireland a more peaceful period reigned – one that allowed the growth of a vibrant musical life in Dublin. The Neal brothers published Irish music in the early 18th century; the great harper, Turlough O’Carolan, plied his trade; and visiting Italian virtuosos and composers visited and lived in Dublin.
This special concert will feature music from that period performed by Irish group, Sonamus, with special guest the celebrated harpist, Annemarie O’Farrell.
Cormac Breatnach – Susato Whistles
Annette Cleary – Cello
Rachel Factor – Harpsichord
Eamon Sweeney – Baroque Guitars
Annemarie O’Farrell – Harp
